[creative-radio] Developing Radio Partners

Developing Radio Partners envisions enduring media services that enrich
individuals' lives, giving them voice to be active, involved citizens and
ultimately transform their communities. We focus particularly where the need
for information is greatest, and where radio can have the greatest impact,
often in rural areas, in countries with legacies of poverty and political
repression. We believe that building a healthy media sector increases the
economic and civic well-being of people and contributes to creating a
healthy nation.

[creative-radio] Building Bridges: Egyptian Workers Breaking Free

Building Bridges: Your Community and Labor Report
National Edition
Produced by Ken Nash and Mimi Rosenberg
****************************
Inspiration From Egypt: A May Day Message
with
Hossam el-Hamalawy,
Historian, Activist Reporter,Blogger, from Cairo

The events in Egypt, were a catalyst throughout the Middle East for the
yearnings for democracy and working class empowerment. And, as well the
aspirations & activism of the Egyptians has given inspiration to us here, in
the face of a full court press against the working class. The current
renaissance of unionism in Egypt should likewise give us inspiration.
Hossam el-Hamalawy provides an insightful report on the May Day celebrations
in Cairo detailing the
continuing conflict between the newly formed independent unions and the
state unions which were still being supported by the military on May Day
celebrations. He provides a fascinating history of unions in Egypt
culminating in their present emergence of a free trade union movement
independent of the state with demands for dissolution of the state unions,
higher wages and renationization of substantial parts of previously
privatized industries.

[creative-radio] [info] “Live at Djakarta Artmosphere 2010” - DVD Release

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Debut
Rilisan DVD Konser – "Live at Djakarta Artmosphere 2010"

Triss
2011 berjudul "Live at Djakarta
Artmosphere 2010". Dalam debut rilisan DVD ini kita akan
menyaksikan penjabaran dari pertemuan tersebut.

Semisal
pertemuan Bonita & The Hus Band and Oddie Agam dalam lagu Puncak Asmara. juga kolaborasi The Trees & The Wild dengan Oddie Agam
diciptakan belasan tahun lalu, baik The Tress &
The Wild, yang sedang ramai dibicarakan dikalangan anak muda pencinta musik

musik blues masa kini, tapi Sylvia Saartje

pioner musik rock tanah air.
70an. Ternyata God Bless dengan hati terbuka mau "ber-jam-session" bersama group rock bernuansa grunge khas lokal
generasi masa kini, Navicula. Bersama mereka

[creative-radio] vimeo video on The VOICE Jena Refugee Conference and Action-day in Zella-Mehlis]]

Kundgebung in Zella-Mehlis
Volltext: http://thevoiceforum.org/node/2111

29 in Zella-Mehlis.

* background info on "Democracy in Haiti" Mixtape
http://nomadicwax.bandcamp.com/track/democracy-in-haiti-mixtape

Serving as the sister project to the upcoming Nomadic Wax documentary film,
"Democracy in Haiti," the Democracy in Haiti Mixtape highlights the political,
cultural and social issues facing Haitian youth after the earthquake that
struck the country in January 2010. The third film in the "Democracy In ..."
series, "Democracy in Haiti" presents to audiences Haitian youth who have been
active in the rebuilding of their country. In Haiti the youth make up the
largest percentage of the population, yet, their voice is often ignored in
discussions of political importance.

Serving as an outlet for Haitian youth to bring forth their voice, "Democracy
in Haiti" spotlights several young artists who have taken active roles in the
reformation of Haiti's cultural and political stature. Lena Jackson, the
Nomadic Wax Director of Photography for the "Democracy in Haiti" film, recently
returned to the country to document the events of the second round presidential
elections and further capture the voice of Haitian youth on film. "Democracy in
Haiti" helps audiences understand the important role Haitian youth must play in
the foundation of Haiti's political and social future. Featuring talent from
Haiti and the Haitian Diaspora around the world, the Democracy in Haiti Mixtape
brings together a diverse group of hip-hop artists contributing verses that
emphasize the socio-political issues currently facing Haitian society. As the
audio backdrop to the "Democracy in Haiti" film, the Democracy in Haiti Mixtape
encourages Haitian youth to stand up and take part in the successful rebuilding
of their nation's society.

The Democracy in Haiti Mixtape is mixed by DJ Nio of Zero Plastica and produced
by Magee McIlvaine of Nomadic Wax, Vox Sambou and DJ Nio. Mastered and
engineered by Dan Cantor of Notable Productions.

[creative-radio] JOB: International Communications Manager, Tostan, Senegal, Traditional+New Medi

International Communications Manager
Tostan
Location: Dakar, Senegal
Last Date: May 8, 2011

Tostan is a Senegalese-born non-profit organization dedicated to educating and empowering Africans who have had little or no access to formal schooling. Tostan's community-led programs have resulted in thousands of villages deciding to abandon the practices of female genital cutting and child marriage, increase formal education of children, use problem solving and literacy skills to generate income and further develop local economies, and incorporate regular healthcare. This vibrant organization is rapidly scaling its successful model across Africa. In order to raise its profile with partners and global stakeholders, Tostan has created a new position for an International Communications Manager.

Reporting to the Director of External Relations, the International Communications Manager leads and mentors a dedicated team raising Tostan's public relations, marketing, communications and brand to the next level. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Manager develops and facilitates buy-in on a communications strategy and action plan. Building on Tostan's strengths, this leader manages and coordinates all relevant activities internationally, leveraging proven best practices and techniques, as well as emerging trends, technologies and social media.

As the ideal candidate, you have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and at least five years of experience in communications or public relations. An outstanding communicator, you are known for your writing and editing skills in both French and English. You enjoy traveling and leading an international, multicultural team. As a true mentor, b uilding the capacity and skills of those around you is second nature. You thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, and manage multiple projects effectively. You understand how to navigate and influence within the non-profit sector; previous experience in international development, community-led development, or human rights in developing nations would be an asset.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Create a communications strategy and plan that supports Tostan's operational strategy, and work closely with the executive team to facilitate final approval and disseminate the communications plan throughout the organization.
• Lead all communications activities, including international public relations, media relations, branding, marketing, and coordination of conferences to maximize impact with other organisational priorities, including fundraising and programs.
• Develop and mentor communications staff and volunteers to improve the internal communications function and facilitate adoption of key communications behaviours.
• Plan, produce and disseminate Tostan's marketing collateral, including online and print publications and presentations.
• Leverage emerging trends, technologies, and social media, in additional to more traditional platforms, to raise Tostan's profile in key areas.
• Manage Tostan's small but significant role in advocacy on key issues.
• Develop a cohesive international brand that reflects Tostan's values.
• Support and coordinate activities related to program and internal communications.
• Leverage existing assets, including an extensive database of donors, committed supporters, high level contacts and press relationships.

Key Relationships
• Direct supervisor: Director of External Relations
• Works closely with the Executive Director and Communications Advisory Board.
• Manages a team of at least two staff and two volunteers on site, and additional staff and volunteers located throughout the organization.

The position is located in Dakar, Senegal, in Tostan's international office. International travel is required.
