March 8th: Please send your programs!

The Women International Network of the World Association of Community Radio
Broadcasters (AMARC-WIN) will organize the 8th annual International Women's
Day Broadcast Campaign. The theme of this year is "Women Empowerment
sustainable development and Climate Change."

This is the 20th anniversary of the Rio climate Change conference, so the
theme of AMARC's International Women's Day program this year is about the
active participation of women in sustainable development and in the
struggle against climate change and for democratization of societies.

The campaign will be broadcast starting at 1:00 AM GMT, Monday March 8th
and will broadcast at http://march8.amarc.org . Please send your programs
by March 4th.

AMARC WIN believes that women can be active agents of change when they can
acess to voice themselves. They should take on leadership roles in leading
their countries and communities towards long-term sustainable development,
fight against climate change and democratization of their societies.

In the road to Rio+20, AMARC WIN would like to build on its local capacity
and expertise to generate more support for Women's active participation in
sustainable development processes, against climate change and
democratization of societies. Through the international broadcast campaign,
we hope to stimulate discussions about women's role in ameliorating their
livelihoods, in shaping long-term sustainable community development and to
confront the crisis created by climate change.

We hope that this multilingual broadcast campaign will contribute to the

[creative-radio] Reports Strange Sounds Recorded Around The World

Just in case you've not seen this full report...
CTV News: Reports Strange Sounds Recorded Around The World
There's been a lot of buzz over the last few weeks about strange sounds
being heard in the atmosphere. People around the world have reported
hearing some bizarre noises. The latest were recorded in Saskatchewan last
weekend. John Baglieri reports.
Ian Hamilton, North Battleford's mayor, says he can't explain it. "What I
experienced was a scraping sound, like a snowplow."
Mike Halstead, a North Battleford resident, was lying in bed when his phone
rang. Calls and text messages came in from his friends, each reporting
strange noises. "That's when the goose bumps got me and I thought 'that's
awfully strange'.

[creative-radio] Howl! arts recordings. listen/download!

* Howl! arts recordings.
listen/download original recordings by grassroots Montreal artists.

In recent months the Howl! arts collective in Montreal has been releasing
online recordings by various grassroots artists, creating beautiful work while
exploring the relationship between the arts and struggles for social justice.
Below are links to excellent tracks that you can listen to and download for
free by great independent artists in Montreal, please post and share these
links in your networks!

---> Brahja Waldman's Quartet. 'Love Work'
http://howlarts.net/post/15865933212/brahja-waldmans-quartet-love-work

'Love Work' is a track by the Brahja Waldman?s Quartet, a highlight from their
upcoming second album Cosmic Brahjas. Howl! highlights this track as a
beautiful example of the vibrant and inspiring independent Jazz being created
at a grassroots level today in Montreal.

---> 'He Sings' Poem for Omar Khadr
http://howlarts.net/post/15692042119/he-sings-poem-for-omar-khadr

'He Sings' is a striking poem on Omar Khadr by Montreal artist Fortner
Anderson. A poem to mark the tragic 10 year anniversary, January 11th, 2012, of
Guantanamo Bay prison.

"For those young men caught within the American gulag and in particular, Omar
Khadr, it is imperative that we speak out to denounce these blatant violations
of human rights and international law," writes Fortner Anderson, "a collective
silence of the American and Canadian people will doom these young men and will
show a lie in the heart of our own freedom."

---> Bakunin's Bum - People already know
http://howlarts.net/post/15371737602/bakunins-bum-people-already-know

'People already know' is by the duo Bakunin?s Bum, with Norman Nawrocki on
violin and 1-Speed Bike on beats/electronics. This moving track is from Fight
to Win, a benefit album, released in 2001 by G7 Welcoming Committee Records in
Winnipeg, for the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP).

This powerful track and the entire Fight to Win album features beats and violin
intermixed with speeches by activists Shawn Brant and Sue Collis, OCAP
organizers, speaking about anti-poverty struggles at an east-end community
center in Montreal.

Howl! arts collective releases this track now because today in Canada similar
anti-poor, anti-worker, anti-people austerity economics are being forced on the
people of Canada, by many of the same Conservative political players that took
aim at social programs and the poor in Ontario a decade ago.

---> Dust my Doom. by Kaie Kellough
http://howlarts.net/post/14826109159/dust-my-doom-by-kaie-kellough

'Dust my Doom' is a track by poet Kaie Kellough from the 2011 album Vox:Versus,
released by Wired on Words in Montreal. On this track you can listen to
Kellough in collaboration with celebrated Montreal DJ Andy Williams, providing
the backing sound collage.

Kaie Kellough is a Montréal word-sound systemizer. He is the author of
Lettricity (Cumulus, 2004), and Maple Leaf Rag (Arbeiter Ring, 2010), which was
nominated for the Manuela Dias design award. Kaie is the voice of one sound
recording, Vox:Versus, a suite of conversations between voice and instrument.

The direct link is here:

http://www.cmfd.org/index.php?option=com_content
<http://www.cmfd.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=78&Itemid=
97> &view=article&id=78&Itemid=97

And you can read about the project here:

http://www.cmfd.org/index.php?option=com_content
