[creative-radio] INDIA: Sentech gives dead air to deadbeat radio: Community Radio Forum says none of their stations were shut off

Sentech gives dead air to deadbeat radio
September 16, 2010

By Asha Speckman

RT @creative_radio: INDIA: Sentech cuts off deadbeat radio
http://ow.ly/2F1IH National Community Radio Forum says none of their
stations were shut off

[excerpt]

Sentech, which is battling for funding to stay afloat, escalated its fight
with clients that were behind on payments by shutting down the
broadcasting signal distribution services of about 40 customers yesterday.

Sentech refuses to name the defaulters. It is understood, however, that
among the defaulters are Tshwane University of Technology's campus radio
station, owing Sentech about R4 000 on a 30-day period; Ubuhleshowe in
Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, owing R211 000 - the most debt owed by a community
radio station; and the radio station Vukani in Cala, Eastern Cape, owing
R16 500.

Sonnyboy Masingi, the chairman of the National Community Radio Forum
(NCRF), said last night he was not aware of any stations that were shut
off.

"We know that there are some stations owing Sentech, but it's not
something that can necessitate the closure of signal to these stations. On
my side I see this as a public relations exercise and a cover-up of their
own problems," said Masingi.

[creative-radio] New Video: BLIND BANGA - Maybe I can see again! Gerstungen Refugee Isolation camp in Thueringen

New Video: BLIND BANGA - Maybe I can see again! Gerstungen Refugee
Isolation camp in Thueringen

This is a story of racist discrimination and social injustice in Germany.

The video is about a West African Refugee, Bamkale Konateh who became
blind in the Gerstungen Refugee Isolation camp in Thueringen, he lost his
right eye in 2004 in the hands of brutal police control in the city of
Düsseldorf. He became completely blind in 2009 when he was serving 10
months imprisonment, since then he has been left alone in the isolated
refugee camp without any rehabilitation. The attempt to deport him was
rejected by the Doctor, because of medical reasons at that time.

[creative-radio] A call for peace in Uganda: Protest in Munich at IHK, 08.09.2010 (en,frz,dt)]

Protest in Munich against the meeting with the Uganda Economic
Development: 08.09.2010 at 11am in front of IHK

A call for peace in Uganda

We, the Ugandans, already involved with the karawane human rights activism
for migrants, are calling for your assistance, to stand with us in Munich
on Wednesday, the 08 September 2010. The meeting between the Uganda
economic development and that of Germany is to take place on this day
between 8:30hrs and 16:30hrs. At the

IHK für München und Oberbayern
Max-Joseph-Straße 2
80333 München

We shall start the protest at 11hrs till 18hrs.

Even when the president of Uganda cancels this journey, the impact of our
exhibition shall reach him first hand; he is well represented by his
counterparts. So either way, Museveni shall feel it.

Our point is very clear; we want president Museveni out of office. We
demand free and fair elections, truth and justice and a fair share of our
resources to all citizens and especially the poverty stricken peasants in
Uganda. Progress shall never emerge from dictatorship.

We want Uganda united, after 25years in office Museveni has failed to
unite the country, rather, he has created more refugees abroad. He has
created children soldiers and has divided the North of Uganda from the
South.

This conference today is misrepresentative to the minority in Uganda. The
keynote speaker from Uganda is a Major General in the Ugandan army. He
calls himself-Hon. Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, he is also Uganda´s
Minister for Tourism, Trade & Industry. The inconsistence amidst the army,
trade and industry, plus tourism is highly remarkable. This developmental
program from Uganda is a farce; the progress doesn't reach the population.
Museveni´s nepotism overwhelms Uganda´s advancement. With Museveni still
in power, Uganda will never know peace.

We therefore beg you all to come and voice it out with us, MUSEVENI MUST
GO. We are not fooled by Uganda's masquerades parading developmental
partnerships in Munich. It is a lie; it is a pattern of greed and
selfishness for the past 25years. Germany must reject Museveni´s regime.
The industry does not grow in Uganda, what form of representation would
Kahinda Otafiire articulate?

Dear Frau Nitardy,

the speaker of the day, we kindly request that you pass this information
on to the Ugandan group. We thank you in advance.

Regina Kiwanuka, Eric Bwire and Michael Ssalongo For a better Uganda

Wirtschaftsentwicklung in München: 8.9.10, 11.00 Uhr

September 2010 in

Armut betroffenen Bauern in Uganda. Die Diktatur wird dem Fortschritt
immer entgegenstehen.

MUST GO.
Entwicklungspartnerschaften in München nicht täuschen. Es ist eine Lüge;

Gruppe weiterzugeben. Wir danken Ihnen im Voraus.

Regina Kiwanuka, Eric Bwire und Michael Ssalongo für ein besseres Uganda.

Creative-Radio is an independent forum for people active in or interested in the use of radio in development, in particular promoting public health, improved education, protection of the environment, improved livelihoods, good governance and conflict mitigation. Since it started in 1996, Creative-Radio has been in the forefront of radio's resurgence as a tool for social change and peace-building, and it helps promote best practice in these areas.
