Applications are due by March 30, 2009 and should consist of a cover
letter, a curriculum vitae, a research statement, one recent sample
publication or professional broadcast, statement of teaching interests,
and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Evidence of production grants
from aid or development agencies will also be considered.

The Brantford campus of Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications
for one position in the Journalism and Human Rights/Human Diversity
Programs at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track or limited
term appointment) beginning July 1, 2009, subject to budgetary
approval.

Professionally, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in
radio broadcasting, preferably in an international development context.
Academically, the ideal candidate will hold a post-graduate
degree-minimally an M.A. and preferably a PhD-and demonstrate evidence
or promise of scholarly research in areas such as: peace journalism,
journalism in emergent democracies or journalism as a tool to promote
human rights and social justice.

Wilfrid Laurier-Brantford is an interdisciplinary campus with a core
curriculum in Contemporary Studies. The Human Rights and Human Diversity
program addresses the theory and practice of rights, diversity and
justice in the Canadian and international contexts, while the Journalism
program aims to develop professional media skills in a context of
critical scholarly inquiry. The successful candidate will have the
opportunity to teach in the Contemporary Studies, Journalism and Human
Rights/Human Diversity programs. The journalism teaching load will
include skills courses in reporting, editing and production as well as
other more analytical courses.
