Crossroads - Women's Rights Radio Drama in Four languages

When a market trader becomes frustrated with the local police inspector who
is more interested in lining his pockets than finding her missing daughter,
a magic drink provided by the local alcohol brewer causes the trader and
police inspector to switch bodies. Each has the opportunity to see how the
other gender lives! - with hilarious results and eye-opening perspectives.
All the while, the search for the missing woman continues - will she be
found in time?

"Crossroads," an exciting six-episode serial radio drama, is now available
in four languages - English, French, Swahili and Portuguese. Broadcast to a
high quality broadcast standard, each 20-minute episode delivers adventure
and intrigue, as well as interwoven messages around women's rights. The
drama is being distributed free to radio stations and groups wishing to use
the drama for educational purposes. Request from deb@cmfd.org

In an effort to promote human rights and social justice in Africa
"Crossroads" explores issues related to the African Union Protocol to the
African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights on the Rights of women in
Africa. CMFD Productions, on behalf of FAHAMU (Networks for Social Justice)
and the African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET),
produced the drama as part of the Media for African Women's Rights Project
(MEWOR) of the Solidarity for African Women's Rights (SOAWR) Coalition.

The English, "Crossroads" and Swahili version, "Njia Pacha," were recorded
in Nairobi. Crossroads will be broadcast Africa-wide, and Njia Pacha will
broadcast in Swahili-speaking countries across East Africa.

The French version of the drama, entitled "Les Pistes Croisées," was
recorded in Senegal with a vibrant group of local actors. The original music
produced for the drama is funky West African beat created by local musicians
in Dakar.

The Portuguese-language version of Crossroads, entitled "Caminhas Crusadas,"
was recorded in Maputo. Hopangalatana, a community-based group of actors,
provide the voices for the drama. Internationally renowned musical group
Euyuphoro created the theme music.
