[creative-radio] NAISA’s Deep Wireless and SOUNDplay festivals - September 30, 2010 Deadline

*Current Calls for Submissions *

* 2010 Calls For Submissions on the theme ABOUT TIME
Categories: Radio Art, Electroacoustic Music/Sound Art, Videomusic and
Installation Art
September 30, 2010 Deadline*

2011 marks the 10th anniversary of NAISA's Deep Wireless and SOUNDplay
festivals and so it is an opportunity for NAISA to both reflect on the past
and look ahead to the future. With this in mind, New Adventures in Sound
Art invites artists of all ages and nationalities to submit works on the
theme *ABOUT TIME* for consideration in New Adventures in Sound Art's 2011
programming for its annual Deep Wireless, Sound Travels, and SOUNDplay
festivals presented in Toronto, Canada. Artists may submit works in one or
all of the following four categories (Note: please send separate submissions
for each entry).

Preference in programming will be given to works that respond in some way to
the theme *ABOUT TIME*. Individual interpretations or variations on the
theme are encouraged, but should be realized with sound as the primary
component.

Artists may submit works in one or all of the following four categories
(Note: please fill out one on-line submission for each entry):

1) Radio Art
2) Electroacoustic Music & Sound Art
3) Videomusic
4) Installation Art

1) Radio Art (for Deep Wireless)

The Radio Art category is for works conceived for radio or that use radio
and other wireless technology in their creation and that play with the
medium. Special consideration will be given to 1 minute radio art pieces for
broadcast as well as 1 page proposals for collaboration on translocal and
network performances.

Pieces will be selected for broadcast within Canada and on several
international radio stations in May 2011 as part of the Deep Wireless
Festival of Radio and Transmission Art.

Both Canadian and International radio art submissions will be considered for
inclusion in the following:

-The Deep Wireless 8 radio art compilation CD
-The Radio Art Interventions (1 minute pieces played guerilla-style on radio
stations during the Deep Wireless festival)
-The Radio Art Salon - a listening gallery of radio art works exhibited for
the month of May.

2) Electroacoustic Music & Sound Art (for Sound Travels & SOUNDplay)

The Electroacoustic Music & Sound Art category is for multi-channel and
stereo works conceived for concert performance or presentation in the Sound
Travels Festival of Sound Art and SOUNDplay festivals. Preferred formats for
performance presentation include 5.1, octaphonic, 12 and 16-channel formats
in both acousmatic (tape), live, and mixed formats. Please indicate in the
notes the intended format of presentation and any required instrumentation
or specialized equipment.

3) Videomusic (for SOUNDplay)

The Videomusic category is for works that explores non-narrative abstraction
with equal emphasis on sound and image. Submitted works will be considered
for video screenings with either stereo or multi-channel playback for
screenings in either a performance venue or a small-size gallery alongside
other works selected from this call for submissions.

4) Installation Art (for Deep Wireless, Sound Travels or SOUNDplay)

Installation proposals of previously realized works for site-specific and
gallery installations will be considered for presentation as part of Deep
Wireless, Sound Travels or SOUNDplay. Site-specific works can be for indoor
or outdoor locations. Works can use multichannel or single channel playback
and may incorporate any number of media, but must feature original sound as
a primary element.

Preference will be given to small to medium scale interactive works that
appeal to all ages. Please note that almost all of NAISA's exhibition
locations are multi-use venues and often require works to be moved and
re-positioned on non-exhibition days. Also attach a list of the necessary
equipment required to mount the installation and which of these items can be
supplied by the artist. Submissions should include audio, video or
audio-video documentation of previously realized versions of the work.

Submission Guidelines

Please complete in full the online submission form by midnight on September
30, 2010 and submit by post your submission materials (postmarked September
30, 2010) to:
New Adventures in Sound Art
601 Christie Street #252,Toronto, ON, M6G 4C7, Canada.

submission.<https://www.naisa.ca/eshops/sub_call.php>

Once you have completed the on-line submission, you will be provided with a
submission number. Please include this number, along with your full name,
when mailing in your CD or DVD. For multichannel works, please include a
stereo reduction for reference purposes only. For video works, please
include a DVD copy for reference only. Screening and multi-channel masters
will be requested later if the work is to be programmed. For installation
works or performance proposals, please attach a list of required equipment
with indication of equipment that can be supplied by the artist.

Materials will not be returned. Please don't send original copies.

[creative-radio] Eng/Deutsch) The VOICE - Press release: Arrest Warrant Against African Father and Activist Without His Black Daughter in Germnay]

Dear Activists and Supporters,

WE DEMAND FOR YOUR SOLIDARITY WITH MBOLO YUFANYI MOVUH AND ANNA NULIA
YUFANYI MOVUH!

PLEASE HELP FORWARD THIS CALL TO ALL AFRICAN COMMUNITIES AND TO ALL OTHERS
FOR PUBLIC INTEREST!

We need to take our struggles against racism and discrimination to a
higher lever especially now when white politicians and intellectuals
(especially Germans) are already going beyond the phenotype, now promoting
the "genetical classification of human races" including racial profiling
for their nationalist discrimination of migrants in Germany and Europe.

Many millions of us are vulnerable to this stigmatization and assimilative
integration without equal rights and for the collective punishment of
foreigner´s parenthood to redefine the Aryan race: While Thilo Sarrazin
(German racist politician) talks, the German state acts!

Although this issue of parenthood affects hundreds if not thousands of
foreigners, very few are as courageous as Yufanyi Movuh to challenge the
systen. You can express your solidarity by sending the protest fax below
to the executors of the arrest warrant against Yufanyi Mbolo.

Yufanyi Movuh schickt.

Deutsch:
PrisonAct ll: "The VOICE" PM zum Haftbefehl für einen Schwarzen Vater und
Aktivisten >>> http://thevoiceforum.org/node/1771

Berlin, 13th of September 2010

Press release - THE VOICE Refugee Forum:

Warrant of arrest for a Black father and activist who wants to be a father
for his daughter, but who is not allowed to.

From "Residenzpflicht – Movement Restriction" to child deprivation.

Since June 2010, another warrant of arrest has been issued against Yufanyi
Movuh Mbolo: „While Thilo Sarrazin (German racist politician) talks, the
German state acts"!

On the 21st of December 2007 a warrant of arrest was issued against the
Black father and activist Yufanyi Movuh Mbolo, because he will not accept
the racist decisions of the local court in Göttingen and the court of
Appeal (2nd Instance) OLG Braunschweig (see
http://yufanyi.blogsport.de/images/HaftbefehlMbolo_01.pdf).

The two courts withdrew the custody of his daughter Anna Nulia Yufanyi
Movuh Nkume from him. The decision was based on a claim (also based on a
racist stereotype) of his White German ex-wife, Kerstin Gierth, who claims
that Mr. Yufanyi wanted to kidnap his daughter and take her with him to
his native country Cameroon (in spite of his studies and residence here in
Germany). Since 2007, Mr. Yufanyi had contact with his daughter only two
times, because the ex-wife went to Mexico two months after the court
decision. So she made it impossible for father and daughter to stay in
contact. It seems as if the lawsuit was used by the German mother to
alienate Mr. Yufanyi and his daughter and to determine the place of
residence of Anna Nulia without interference of the father. For these
reasons, he refuses to pay the costs of the trial (for more information:
http://yufanyi.blogsport.de/2008/01/22/beschwede-gegen-den-kostenfestset...
). Even when the ex-wife and daughter were staying in Mexico, Mr. Yufanyi
has tried to contact his daughter - through e-mail and a contact person -
without success.

Mr. Yufanyi lives in Germany since 1998 and currently stays in Berlin. He
is doing a doctor's degree at the University of Göttingen.

In September 2009 the ex-wife came back to Germany and apologized to Mr.
Yufanyi that she had gone "so far" and asked him to contact the daughter
(see: http://yufanyi.blogsport.de/2010 / 09/09/letter-from-kerstin-2009 /
).

He did so immediately, and at the beginning of this year, he could enjoy
two successful stays with his daughter, when she stayed once almost two
weeks at her father's house. After these visits, the ex-wife broke tie
again - without any tangible reason. After several attempts by Mr. Yufanyi
to speak with his daughter on the phone, the White grandmother and his
ex-wife stopped the contact again. Also attempts by relatives of Mr.
Yufanyi to contact the ex-wife and the daughter failed.

Meanwhile, the finance office of Lower Saxony is still asking for the
endued costs of the trial, which Mr. Yufanyi is not willing to pay,
because thereby he would acknowledge the decision on the loss of custody.

During the three years that Mr. Yufanyi could not stay in contact with his
daughter, the bailiff in Göttingen tried to arrest Mr. Yufanyi to force
him pay the endued costs of trial through a coercive detention. Because of
a successful fax and phone campaign this endeavor was unsuccessful. After
Mr. Yufanyi moved to Berlin and established a new family, the bailiff from
Göttingen is still trying now to enforce the arrest of Mr. Yufanyi through
a bailiff in Berlin (see:
http://yufanyi.blogsport.de/2010/09/09/aktueller-haftbefehl and
implementation / ).

Although Mr. Yufanyi has lost the custody for his daughter and his
daughter has lost him as a father, he is meant to be punished for not
accepting the unjust and racist decision of the local district court and
of the higher regional court.

The aim of the warrant is to arrest Mr. Yufanyi to force him to reveal his
financial circumstances and to pay the legal attorney's costs of his
ex-wife. But Mr. Yufanyi will continue to resist this demand and he will
insist on his right to educate his daughter and on the right of Anna Nulia
to be brought up by both parents. In a predominantly White society, the
father is the only person, who can give Black consciousness and
self-consciousness to the child.

Although he can be put in prison for up to six months, Mr. Yufanyi is
still willing to go to jail and not to accept the decision of the German
racist family policy.

While Thilo Sarrazin (German racist politician) talks, the German state acts!

It is not the first time that the German government tried to arrest Mr
Yufanyi because he fights for his rights. In 2003, he was convicted,
because he defended himself against the racist special law of the
"Residenzpflicht ("a type of Apartheid Pass Law" for asylum seekers (for
more information: http://thecaravan.org/cornelius_yufanyi_haftbefehl).

Because we defend Mr. Yufanyi's rights as a father, we ask you to protest
against the arrest of Yufanyi Movuh Mbolo by writing to the administrator
GVin Schweigel.

Subject: Warrant of arrest against Mr. Yufanyi - DR II 1018/10 because of
the arrest request of the Regional Finance office of Lower Saxony due to
the racist court order for the payment of costs of 16th of April 2007.

Dear GVin Schweigel,

I / we find it unacceptable that not only the custody of Mr. Yufanyi for
his daughter has been withdrawn, but also he is punished for not accepting
the racist decision of the District Court and the Court of Appeal. For
more than three years, his daughter has little contact with him and since
July 2007 the mother of Mr. Yufanyi's daughter violated all regulations of
both courts by staying over two years in Mexico and now, after her return,
she does not want that he stays in real contact with his daughter and that
he assumes responsibility. The right of the child of contacts to both
parents is clearly violated here, although the court claims to have
decided in the best interests of the child. Mr. Yufanyi was granted a one
day per week "right to visit" from his daughter. Since three years, this
possibility is undermined by the mother.

I / we stand behind Mr. Yufanyi's decision. The possibility to take
responsibilities as a father and to protect his daughter's right to have a
father, both need the opportunity to see each other whenever they want. As
a father, Mr. Yufanyi is an important person and reference for Anna Nulia
Yufanyi Movuh to convey to her the African part of her identity.

It is only logical, that Mr. Yufanyi cannot pay the costs of a trial that
denied these rights to him and his daughter.

If Mr. Yufanyi is arrested, I / we will do everything politically possible
to maintain his right as a father and the right of his daughter.

Therefore, I / We ask you not to implement the warrant of arrest and
rather to advocate its repeal and the return of Mr. Yufanyi's daughter.

Yours sincerely,

(siehe: http://yufanyi.blogsport.de/images/HaftbefehlMbolo_01.pdf),

Nkume Yufanyi Movuh aberkannt.
http://yufanyi.blogsport.de/2008/01/22/beschwede-gegen-den-kostenfestset...).
seiner Tochter aufzunehmen - ohne Erfolg.

will.

Absender:

Betr.: Haftbefehl gegen Herrn Yufanyi – DR II 1018/10 wegen des
Verhaftungsantrag der Oberfinanzdirektion Niedersachsen wegen des
Kostenfestsetzungsbeschlusses vom 16.04.2007.

Sehr geehrte Frau Schweigel,

will.

((((( WGXC/Prometheus Radio Project Station Barnraising )))))

This September, Prometheus Radio Project and WGXC will hold Prometheus's 12th community radio barnraising. Radio barnraisings are weekend-long radio and movement-building events. The collaboration with WGXC will be Prometheus's first full-power barnraising. This new 3,300-watt station, decentralized with studios in Cairo, Catskill, and Hudson, will be much more than just a radio station, with regular exhibitions and events, ongoing media trainings, a news blog, and archived community meetings. WGXC will reveal its initial broadcast schedule Sunday, Sept. 26 at a Barnraising event.

Re: [creative-radio] South Africa: Sentech gives dead air to deadbeat radio: Community Radio Forum says none of their stations were shut off

Ummm.... this seems more like Southern Africa, and is certainly not India. While
we do have a network called Community Radio Forum in India, I don't think it
would comment on African affairs.
