Innovative Interactivity<http://www.newsu.org/?nultid=843&finalurl=0BHM1U50GU5ShQWd8r%2friL3yrkYV6vxev6rghMD8GI%2fPL9iSw9EnIF7F58DIfvbawEzI46igrmqrRi0Syi0580XlIYxa6P9FUxXQrdqWft0%3d>recently
brought to our attention a new social network on Ning called
"Journalists
/ Coders<http://www.newsu.org/?nultid=843&finalurl=vWyTNJr4aB002kTOW1zlvyfeiE%2f%2bN5h70Uc32ilXRPbCCHkDS%2bcuavLvWUb%2bz%2fXEXsohBDe%2feJFNiL72k0uDfai7DSC6mWTPZ0VxkEcvlPU%3d>."
Founder Justin McLachlan sees this project as "an across the board platform
for those interested in coding and journalism and how the two should fit
together."

Journalists / Coders is shaping up to be a good hub for conversations about
the technologies available to produce well-crafted multimedia journalism.
You can read tips and techniques, troubleshoot thorny code and see what
other members are working on.

The network has about 100 members, and 10 groups have been created around
specific technologies, such as Ruby on Rails and HTML/CSS. (You can add your
own group, if there's a topic you'd like to see get more attention.)

You can get preview the content by visiting, but you have to sign

*Edinburgh, United
Kingdom<http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/places/countries/country_unitedkingdom.html>,
April 13, 2009--*Surgically constructed with an artificial scaffolding,
performance artist Stelarc's "third ear" was on display at the Edinburgh
International Science Festival.

The 62-year-old Australian plans to install a microphone in the object,
allowing Web users worldwide to "hear" via his arm.

"Maybe we are getting a glimpse of the future here, where technologies get
embedded [in the body]," computer scientist and festival organizer Michael
Smyth told the *Scotsman* newspaper. "We all carry mobile phones everywhere
but suddenly when we break the barrier of the skin, it becomes an
issue." *—Photograph

Creative-Radio is an independent forum for people active in or interested in the use of radio in development, in particular promoting public health, improved education, protection of the environment, improved livelihoods, good governance and conflict mitigation. Since it started in 1996, Creative-Radio has been in the forefront of radio's resurgence as a tool for social change and peace-building, and it helps promote best practice in these areas.
