* Violation of Freedom in Honduras Denounced*

Santiago de Chile - The World Association of Community Radios-Latin America
and Caribbean (AMARC-ALC) charged that Honduras are suffering violation of
the rights to communication and freedom of speech.

After condemning Honduran de facto regime censure, it pointed out that "the
situation worsens through the complicity of the great mass media that act in
defense of the interests of an illegal government."

As a result of his visit to Chile, Constitutional President of Honduras
Manuel Zelaya, Maria Pia Matta, president of AMARC-ALC told him that a
delegation to Tegucigalpa had just returned after observing "the sever
situation that affects organizations of Honduran civilian organizations, the
media and freedom of speech."

This organization as well as other NGOs such as the Latin American
Association of Promotion Institutes (ALOP) prepared a report offered to the
Central American president and that was directly broadcast to
communityradio stations in Honduras.

Our organization has been carrying out several initiatives of solidarity
with the Honduran people and demanding the immediate restitution of
democracy in Honduras that is only possible with his return, it expressed in
a letter to Zelaya.

He also called to defend democracy and state rights of Honduras and to act
decidedly in defense of the rights of the people, defend freedom of speech
by broadcasters, journalists, social and citizen institutions in general.
