Have you ever wanted to volunteer in Africa? Interested in radio broadcasting? (Start dates flexible)

We are looking for interns to volunteer with 3 local radio stations in the Cape Coast area of Ghana (Ahomka FM, ATL FM and Eagle FM).

As an intern you will be part of a team professionals at local radio station in Cape Coast Ghana (either ATL FM, Eagle FM, or Ahomka FM), working to create and implement radio programming. You will be involved in scriptwriting, conducting interviews, and involved in all that goes to producing news and studio based programmes. Duties may include reporting stories on air and conducting interviews.

Objectives of the placement

• Assist the radio station in the creation and implementation of its programmes.

• Advocate local and national issues, such as human rights, politics, civil liberties, social enterprise, gender issues and economic development

• Foster skill transfer between the interns and the radio station.

Application instructions:

We are looking for people with a proven interest in journalism or community activism. Experience in radio journalism is not required, but is preferred.

Fees:
All interns are housed at the Abusua Foundation house, and are provided with meals, accommodation, airport pick-up and drop-off, orientation and 24/7 emergency care support for a flat fee of $120 a week. To secure the placement there is a $500 deposit (a percentage of which is donated to the radio station in-kind).
