JOB OPPORTUNITY: NATIONAL COORDINATOR

FULL-TIME

The National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA/ANREC)
http://www.ncra.ca/ is a not-for-profit national association of
organizations and individuals committed to volunteer-based,
community-oriented radio broadcasting.

The NCRA/ANREC seeks a National Coordinator to manage operations, and to
support and foster the growth and development of this dynamic association
and its diverse stakeholders. This position requires strong leadership,
excellent communication skills, and the ability to work strategically to
achieve the association's goals. The ideal National Coordinator is a highly
organized self-starter who has worked or volunteered in the campus/community
radio sector, has experience in not-for-profit management, fundraising,
membership services and outreach in a not-for-profit context, and is
enthusiastic about joining an association which unites and serves
community-access radio broadcasters throughout Canada.

The National Coordinator, who will be based in Ottawa, will report to the
NCRA board of directors. This position carries an initial term of 6 months,
with possible renewal.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not
limited to:

- In consultation with the Board of Directors, seeking new and sustainable
funding streams for the association, including exploring all possible
fundraising methods, sourcing and writing proposals for applicable grants
and implementing an individual donor plan.

- Fostering member recruitment and retention by maintaining regular station
contact, providing assistance, and overseeing and developing member services
and resources.

- Encouraging collaboration within the association by linking members for
the purposes of mentorship, information-sharing, and regional development.

- Liaising and developing relationships and partnerships with other
organizations, government agencies, and regulatory bodies, such as ARC du
Canada, ARC-Q, CRTC, Industry Canada, Heritage Canada, CAB, and AMARC.

- Working collaboratively with the Treasurer to ensure the sound financial
management and fiscal stewardship of the association, including bookkeeping,
preparing annual budgets, and providing regular financial reports to the
Board of Directors.

- Working in conjunction with the Board of Directors to define the
association's strategic direction, review and developing goals and
objectives, plan and execute programs and services, and measure the impact
of the association's activities.

- Preparing for and attending meetings of the Board of Directors (and
Committees as required) and supporting them in carrying out their work.

- Developing and maintaining the accuracy and relevance of the association's
communication tools including email listserves, website, newsletter,
membership kits, press releases and annual report.

- Along with members of the Board of Directors, acting as spokesperson and
point of contact to stakeholders, including government, regulatory bodies,
other organizations, funders, media, and community members.

- Keeping abreast of relevant sector developments such as emerging broadcast
technologies, new media, regulatory issues, and copyright tariffs.

- Representing the association as an ex officio member of Community Radio
Fund of Canada's Board of Directors, and supporting the fund in carrying out
its work.

- Undertaking the recruitment, selection, training, and management of staff
and volunteers, and assisting the Board of Directors in maintaining
appropriate human resources and volunteer management policies and practices.

- Carrying out a variety of administrative tasks to keep the national office
running smoothly.

- Other duties as assigned by the board


*Qualifications*

- Previous experience:

- working collaboratively and strategically to effect organizational growth
and development.

- working or volunteering at one or more campus or community radio
station(s)

- conducting community outreach, public education, and advocacy

- working in the not-for-profit voluntary sector with a volunteer Board of
Directors in a management and administration capacity (at least three years)

Strong skills in:

- communication, including written, oral, and interpersonal (ability to work
effectively in both English and French is an asset)

- conflict resolution and diplomacy

- financial management, planning and reporting

- Microsoft Office and accounting applications

Demonstrated ability to:

- write successful grant applications and administer grant-funded programs

- build and maintain sound relationships with colleagues, community members,
media, existing or potential stakeholders, and a wide variety of
personalities and interests spread across the country.

- be highly productive and organized while working alone with minimal
supervision.

Also required:

- thorough knowledge of the relevant issues affecting the c/c radio sector

- Diploma or university degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent
combination of training and experience.

Compensation: range of $32,000 to $38,000 per annum, commensurate with
experience
